      Trip Overview

In keeping with Ethiopia’s status as aland of startling contrasts, Bale Mountain National Park is a land of rugged mountains, cloud-dampened alpine forest, and the country’s largest concentration of large mammals. Known for its lush forests and high concentration of mammals, Bale Mountains National Park is the perfect destination for hikers, wildlife watchers, and nature enthusiasts.

Here you can find gorges, lakes, streams, waterfalls, volcanic ridges and stunning views. These mountains are another important biodiversity hotspot, supporting evergreen forests, giant bamboo, moorlands, and juniper sheltered river valleys. Wildlife here include the Mountain Nyala, Ethiopian wolf, Menilik’s Bushbuck, Bale Monkey, warthogs, serval cats, Leopard, Abyssinian Black Manned Lion, Forest Hogs and many more.

 Bird-watchers and hikers are sure to find something to capture their imagination in the park as well.

3 Days Bale Mountains Tour 

Day 01.  Drive to Bale Mountains
On your arrival to Dinsho town heading to the park headquarters in the afternoon,  time for a leisurely afternoon hike, possibly spotting the huge number of endemic antelope families such as: Menelik’s Bushbuck and the Mountain Nyala. Birds in this area include the Blue-Winged Goose, the Abyssinian Long Claw, the wattled Ibis, the Black-Headed Siskin, Rouget’s rail, and numerous other species
O/Night Camping.

Day 02. Drive to Sanneti Plateau and Harenna Forest
In the morning After breakfast, drive to Sanetti Plateau above 4000 meters, with Afro-alpine Moor land, beautiful wild alpine scenery. Chance to see the rare and endangered Canid species Ethiopian Wolf, Abyssinian Hare, water birds like Blue winged Goose, Ruddy shell duck, Wattled Crane and others. climb the 2nd Highest point of Ethiopia mount Tullu Dimtu (4,377masl). Then after lunch continue to the Southern part of the park to Harrena forest which is the largest Tropical rain forest in the country, take a hike to water fall and Bamboo trail here we have a chance to observe the endemic Bale Monkey and others such as Colobos monkey and numerous bird life.
O/Night Camping in the forest.

Day 03. Return back to Addis.
After breakfast drive back to Addis on the way back we will have a chance to spot some more birds and Ethiopian Wolves. then proceed our drive to Addis with some stops on the way.
