Day 1: Arrival to Bale Mountains
Arrive in Bale Mountains and meet your guide. Begin a short hike near the park headquarters to spot endemic wildlife such as Mountain Nyala, Menelik’s Bushbuck and Ethiopian birds including Black-headed Siskin and Wattled Ibis. Overnight at Dinsho Campsite at 3,100 m.
Day 2: Dinsho to Sodota Campsite
Trek approximately 18 km through Web Valley towards Fincha Habera waterfall. Look out for the Ethiopian Wolf, raptors, rock hyrax and endemic birds such as the Blue winged Goose. Enjoy coffee or tea on arrival at Sodota Campsite at 3,500 m.
Day 3: Sodota to Wasema
Trek 6–7 hours through Mararo Valley, home to Lammergeyer and Verreaux’s Eagles. Continue spotting the Ethiopian Wolf and various alpine birds. Overnight at Wasema Campsite at 3,900 m.
Day 4: Wasema to Rafu
Explore the volcanic and glacial formations of Bale Mountains, walking among basalt pipes and granite boulders. Trek 5–6 hours through high country with stunning rock formations. Overnight at Rafu Campsite at 4,000 m.
Day 5: Trek to Sanetti Plateau – Drive to Robe
Hike across the Sanetti Plateau, enjoying alpine moorlands, lakes, and wildlife including falcons and possibly Ethiopian Wolves. Meet your vehicle at the plateau and drive to Robe for overnight at Tokuma Hotel.
Day 6: Bale Mountains – Drive to Arba Minch
Depart Bale Mountains and drive south to Arba Minch, with scenic stops along the way. Overnight at a tourist hotel in Arba Minch.
Day 7: Visit Dorze Tribe & Lake Chamo
Take a boat trip on Lake Chamo to see crocodiles, hippos and abundant birdlife. In the afternoon, visit the Dorze Tribe in Guge Mountain to explore their beehive-shaped houses and traditional cotton weaving practices. Overnight at a tourist hotel in Arba Minch.
Day 8: Drive to Turmi – Visit Konso and Hamer Tribes
Travel to Turmi, stopping at Konso to explore its UNESCO-listed villages with terraced fields and wooden totems. Continue to Hamer villages near Turmi, observing their unique hairstyles, ornaments, and pottery. Overnight at Emerald Lodge, Turmi.
Day 9: Omorate – Dassenech Tribe – Jinka
Drive to Omorate to visit the Dassenech Tribe on the Omo River, then return to Turmi and continue to Jinka, visiting Ari villages known for coffee, fruit cultivation and lush surroundings. Overnight at Nasa Hotel, Jinka.
Day 10: Mursi Tribe – Fly Back to Addis Ababa
Drive through Mago National Park to visit Mursi villages and witness the women’s lip plates and men’s stick-fighting rituals. Transfer to Jinka Bako Airport for the flight back to Addis Ababa, concluding the tour in the afternoon.
