EXCELLENT Based on 40 reviews Posted on Itay SVerified Unforgettable experience in Ethiopia We were fortunate enough to plan our trip with Armaye and his team, and we couldn't be more grateful for the experience. From the beginning, Armaye and his team worked closely with us to craft a personalized itinerary that perfectly matched our needs. It was immediately clear how deeply knowledgeable they are about Ethiopia and the art of making unforgettable travel experiences.During our journey, we encountered some unexpected logistical challenges due to weather conditions. However, Armaye handled everything with incredible dedication and problem-solving skills, ensuring that our trip continued seamlessly. If you're looking to experience Ethiopia in a way that's tailored specifically to you, look no further! We are incredibly thankful for this trip, and we’d be thrilled to plan more adventures with them in the future!Posted on Katrin ZVerified Brilliant, highly recommended We did a 6-day trekking in the Bale Mountains from Dinsho and everything was well organized and the equipment was excellent. Our guide Abdul led us safely and professionally through the spectacular landscapes. First he made sure he knew our fitness level. Every day he gave precise descriptions of our route to come. He helped us to overcome tricky sections and explained a lot about the flora and fauna. The food was surprisingly good and varied. It was fantastic to watch our cook Ali prepare delicious dishes over an open fire. When we arrived tired at the campsite in the late afternoon, coffee, tea and snacks were already waiting for us. Equipment and our luggage were carried for the first few days by four horses, accompanied by two porters. From the Sanetti Plateau to the Harenna Forest and to Robe to a very well selected hotel we went by off-road vehicle. We must also mention that our tour took place during Ramadan and all members of the crew were fasting. An incredible achievement! Many thanks to everyone for the wonderful experience!Posted on SeverineVerified 10 day trip Bale Mountains and Danakil Depression I had a 10 day trip organized by Armaye, it was perfect. First, I spent 5 days hiking in Bale Mountains, with one other tourist and our wonderful guide Jafar. The first day was calm and good to get used to the altitude. You may wish to consult you doctor to get some medication to prevent mountain sickness. We walked an average of 5-6h/day. It's possible to rent a hourse for the day if you're too tired to walk. During the day, temperatures went up to 37°C at 3100m, but the wind made that I hiked with my scarf, hat and rainjacket to cut off the wind. Higher up it still reached 33°C during the day but as soon as the sun went down it got super cold (avout 2°C at night). I highly advise coming well equipped, having thermal underwear and an extra sleeping bag for at night. A scarf, buff and gloves were certainly not too much. The tent they provide was of good quality, but the sleeping bag was certainly not enough. The food was really good and varied, and never got sick. The landscape was rather dry and not that varied, but I wouldn't want to trade it for raining season. 3 out of 4 nights we had access to a little river which was perfect to get refreshed after the hike. Overall, I wouldn't want to redo the 5day hike (too cold for me at night) but I will certainly recommend it. The little hotel in Robe at the end is simple but has all you need to recover from the long hike. I then had a guided visit of Addis, which was too packed for just half a day. The ethnographic museum was well worth it, and I was happy to have a guide because I didn't find it self explanatory. The national museum was in restauration. The Merkato is interesting to pass by, but I wouldn't recommend it on a Friday in the middle of the day in full heat. I then had a 3 day trip in Danakil, where I joined a group of 10 other people. It was perfect. Climbed a volcano, slept under the stars, walked between salt canyons, swum in salt lakes and bathed in hot springs. Hiked through sulfar fields. Dani was the best driver and guide we could have hoped for. The communication with Armaye was really smooth and I mostly appreciated he took the time to meet his clients in person and get feedback from the trips. He also brought me to lovely local dining places which made the whole trip really memorable.Posted on David GVerified Abyssinian wolves. Excellent activity. Our guide, Armayi and our driver really stayed patient and took the time to show us Abyssinian wolves, which is a very rare animal and also a very discreet one. So it was really a matter of patience. It took roughly 4 hours to finally spot one. And from this moment on, we were lucky enough to spot a few other ones. As a final word, I would recommend Armayi and the activity, for those who have the money and the time. It takes quite some time to get to Robe, where the Bale mountain national park is located.Posted on Juan TVerified Great guide and amazing trek It was a great experience to discover the Bale mountains with Ecotrekking, my guide Awol was great giving explanations and the whole team was very nice . Looking foward to go back!Posted on Rose dVerified 10/10 My husband and I hiked Bale Mountains end of July 2024. It was an amazing adventure made all the more safe and exciting by the Bale Mountains Eco Trekking. We flew from Addis and our tour started in Dinsho with airport transfer from Giba airport. As we began the hike, our guide Armaye and the Cook Edris were just fantastic. As we slowly made our way, getting to know one another, it was evident we were in the best of hands. Armaye constantly monitored our progress while always keeping check on our well being at all times. Coffee & biscuit breaks plus tasty food were always a favourite from Edris. Armaye as always available for questions always taking the time to make sure we had what we needed plus some. They made this trip come together in what was for us a truly outstanding, awe inspiring trip of a lifetime. Everything Bale Mountains Eco Trekking did was done perfectly and more importantly...SAFELY!THANK YOU!Posted on Lowell WVerified Incredible scenery, off the beaten path, but SO well organized! This is the same company as Armaye Ethiopia Tours. We did a 10 day Bale Mountains trek with them this fall and LOVED it. Armaye was so helpful and organized throughout the whole process and the tour itself was the highlight of our 3 months of traveling! Our guide, Awol, was incredile, as were the cook, drivers, and horsemen, that supported the tour. The trek was full of unexpected, wonderful, surprises, including a wildcat, dozens of warthogs, and 8 endemic ethiopian wolves. It was truly the trip of a lifetime, and so easy and safe! Please don't pass up the chance to do this trip, I can't recommend it enough.Posted on WeMustGauVerified Enjoy Bale Moutain with them I have to recomandate this amazing tour!We program this tour only 3 days ago and that was an amazing experience. First, Armaye is so understanding and he want to plan as fair as possible for you to enjoy your time.Second, you met on point an amazing team, so kind, so helpful. During all the trek, they want to make a wonderful experience. Our guide, Awal, is really rich of knowledge. Because of him we saw many of animals and we was lucky to see ethiopian wolfs so many time. He was also taking care about our luggage during our trek, and he was so available to give us advices to travel in his country. At the end, he helped us to find our way back, so thank you for all.Posted on Nes OVerified 3 nights trekking in march We had a brilliant 3 days trekking in the Bale mountains, amazing scenery and views, and excellent knowledge of the flora and fauna from our guide Awol. We saw Ethiopian wolves many times as well as lots of endemic bird species, antelope, warthogs and giant mole rats among many other animals! Great comfortable camping set up with warm sleeping bags and everything else we needed provided, and more than enough delicious food made by the cook Idriss. All of our stuff was carried on horses accompanied by 2 horse handlers. Awol also picked us up and dropped off at Goba airport which worked very well. It did get a bit cold in the evenings so make sure to bring warm clothes. We would love to come back again for a longer hike after the rainy season.Posted on David CVerified Super trek to match the likes of the Inka Trail. This was a great trek! Armaye was responsive and helpful by email in the planning stage, and was happy for me to go solo when no other tourists wanted to go at the same time. My flight was delayed due to poor mountain weather, but Awol and his driver were still waiting for me at Goba airport (an experience in itself) when I eventually arrived. They took me up to the start of the trek, Bale national park HQ. We had a wonderful lunch, and a quick walk around the wildlife filled area. Awol explained the different habitats we would trek through during the week, and the animals we hopefully would see. He and the chef, Edirs, went home, and I had a peacful night camping on my own. The horse handlers arrived the next morning and loaded up all the camping kit onto the horses as Awol and I set off walking. We had to change the route due to very high water levels, and this was a good sign of the flexibility to come...The week was superb, you really do get to see a different environment each day! We walked at a pace suitable for me, and the team were super flexible when altitude gave me headaches and reduced apetite. The tent, sleeping bag and mattress were comfy, the food was super, more than sufficient, hot even in extreme conditions, and always arrived at the right time. The views were stunning, the knowledge and enthusiasm of Awol was infectious. He really cares for his country, and Bale mountains in particular. The best bit about the trek was the feeling that I was on something a little out of the ordinary, not a slick shiny surface deep tourist experience but a grass roots, community supported, heart and soul trek with people who really care about the mountains, and their customers. We saw so few other humans, and in this respect, it beats the Inka Trail! Thank you!!!
