Day 1: Arrival To Addis Ababa  

Our representative will meet you on your arrival to Bole International Airport then transfer to your hotel. Depends on your arrival time you will go for Addis city tour, Visit “Lucy” one of the oldest complete hominid skeletons ever found at the National Museum. Stroll through the Addis Ababa Mercato  one of the largest markets in Africa Visit the St. George’s Cathedral (Giorgis Cathedral), built to commemorate Ethiopia’s victory over the Italians in 1896. Explore the fascinating Ethnological Museum one of the best museums in Africa set in a former palace of Haile Selassie.  Accommodation: Bentark Hotel

Day 2: Flight Addis – Bahir Dar  

Take a morning short flight to Bahir Dar, on arrival to Bahir Dar meet the team and drive to hotel. After check-in to your hotel, we go for a city tour. Bahir Dar is situated on the shore of Lake Tana, the largest lake in the country with 37 islands most of which have monasteries from the 14th –  19th century. Bahir Dar has Mediterranean type weather. Its palm-lined streets make Bahir Dar one of the most attractive cities in Africa. The city is the capital of the regional government for the Amhara people. After lunch we visit the pleasant town and its vibrant market. At the end of the day we enjoy the panoramic view and the sunset from Bezawit Hill.  Accommodation: Jacaranda Hotel

Day 3: Bahir dar  

 After an early breakfast we drive for about one hour to reach the small village of Tissisat. Here we enjoy a lovely walk in the cooler morning hours. We cross the Nile by the 17th century Portuguese Bridge and continue the walk to the famous waterfalls, meeting local people on the way. After admiring the falls, we cross the Nile by small boat to find our car waiting for us. In the afternoon, we take a boat across Lake Tana to the Zege peninsula. On the peninsula, we do a short walk and visit two monasteries from the 14th century Azwa Mariam and Ura Kidane Mehret. The architectural style of both monasteries is a typical example of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, with its round shape, mud walls, and conical straw roofs. In Zege, we also find a diverse bird species and Colobus Money in the forest. Accommodation: Jacaranda Hotel

Day 4: Drive To Gondar (African Camelot )

Our trip continues to Gondar (185 km) via a magnificent landscape of the Amhara region. The farmlands of the Amhara people are visible on the roadside. Gondar, which used to be the seat of many Emperors who ruled Ethiopia in the 17th and 18th century. The town is the gateway to the Simien Mountains and lies at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level. After lunch, we will visit the famous castles of the town, where former rulers built numerous palaces for themselves and their families. Visit the Castles of Gondar, Bath of the Fasilides and Debre Birhan Selassie Church. We continue our journey to the bath of King Fasilidas, where Timkat festival is annually hosted. fauna This is one of the famous festivals in Ethiopia and held annually to celebrate the baptism of Jesus. We finish the day with a visit to the church of Debre Berhan Selassie, which is famous for its beautiful ceiling paintings. The motif of the angelic face became a symbol of the Ethiopian art.  Accommodation: Haile Resort Gondar.

Day 5: Drive to Simien Mountains  

Morning Drive to Simien Mountains National Park (135 km) that were designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1969. The UNESCO described the mountains as “one of the world’s most spectacular landscapes on the Ethiopian plateau.” The park is full of breathtaking landscapes and abundant flora and. Over 10,000 of the rare & endemic Gelada baboons live in the park and can be observed at a close distance. We will have an easy hike (approx. 3 h) from Sankaber (3.260 m) to Geech. We pass picturesque scenery, as well as Ethiopia’s highest waterfall Jinbar also called “gateway to hell.” then we drive back to lodge for overnight. Accommodation: Simien Lodge

Day 6: Simien Mountains National Park  

In the morning, we will return to Simien Mountains National Park. The jagged mountains and deep valleys lend spectacular views to these mountains, Continue our drive to Chenek camp, the home for the Walia Ibex and the Ethiopian Wolf. The afternoon will be available for hikes in the surrounding area. In the late afternoon drive back to Gondar for overnight. Accommodation: Haile Resort Gondar.

Day 7: Flight to Lalibela (African Petra)  

Morning after breakfast return to Gondar then take a flight to Lalibela UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lalibela is noted as The, New Jerusalem” – a town for internationally renowned rock hewn churches known as, Eight wonders of the world, physically praised from the rock in which they stand, these towering edifices seems to be superhuman creation in scale workman ship and concept on arrival after check in to your Hotel begin to explore the rock-hewn churches of the remarkable king Lalibela. visit the South-eastern Cluster of churches-Bet GabrielRufael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. On the afternoon visit the Northwestern Cluster of churches – Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha. Finally, visit the most famous of all the churches Bet Giyorgis, a huge monolith in the shape of a cross, and constructed in honor of St. George, the patron saint of Ethiopia. Day 8: Flight Lalibela – Addis – Dire Dawa  

After breakfast, we will take a flight to Dire Dawa via Addis Ababa and on arrival you will be picked up by our driver and drive to Harar and check into your hotel. Later, we will stroll through the 16th century walled city of Harar, the fourth most important city in the Islamic World. Accommodation: Ferej Hotel

Day 9: Harar  

After breakfast, we will visit the colorful Islamic market, tour the National and Harari museums and the house of Ras Mekonnen, sculpted in 1959 and destroyed in 2020 (father of Haile Selassie.) A long-standing tradition of feeding meat to hyenas. In the evening see the “Hyena Man” feeding the hyenas that gather nightly.Overnight at a nearby hotel. Accommodation: Ferej Hotel

Day 10: Flight DireDawa  – Addis Ababa  

Drive from Harar to Dire Dawa with optional stop at Ethiopia’s largest “chat” market in Aweday, open 24/7, catering not only to the domestic market but also Somalia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia to name a few. From Dire Dawa we will fly to Addis Ababa. Accommodation: Bentark Hotel or similar

Day 11.  Fly  Addis –  Semera – Ahmedela   

Arrival at Semera Airport and meeting by your guide, Briefing about General Ethiopian Geology and about the whole program then begin your  adventure to Danakil Depression. Enroot stop for lunch at Afdera town where the biggest Afdera lake is and salt mining take place. Then proceed your drive down to one of the lowest point in the world. evening we will arrive at Ahmedela, a small settlement where the salt caravans meet before their long walk to other towns. You’ll stay overnight in open air Camping counting thousands of stars. Accommodation: Open Air Camping  

Day 12. Ahmedela – Dallol – Erta’ale   

Early morning before breakfast we drive to Dallol with Salt Domes and colourful geothermal pools. Dallol is like nowhere else; a bizarre landscape of colourful mineral deposits, sulphur pools and geysers, where we’ll have the morning to explore this seemingly alien terrain. We will also visit the bizarre landscape of the salt canyons before making our way towards Erta’ale, where en route we may get the chance to see the arduous work of salt being extracted by hand and loaded onto the camels. about1,200 km2 of the Danakil Depression is covered by salt. On the afternoon we will proceed our drive to Erta’ale.  After relaxed light dinner, we will have about 30 Minutes walk to the Summit crater of Erta Ale volcano lake, visit Erta’ale volcano then back to the camp for overnight. Accommodation: Open Air Camping  

Day 13.  Erta’ale  – Semera – Flight to Addis   

Early morning, we hike back to the top of the crater to visit the volcanic activities for the second time before sun rise. After that, descend from the top of the crater down to camp site for breakfast. after breakfast start driving back to Semera with optional stop at Lake Afdera for a nice swim in the lake and nearby hotspring. Late afternoon fly back to Addis Ababa. Accommodation: Bentark Hotel

Day 14. FLIGHT TO ARBAMINCH  
Take a morning flight to Arba Minch. Then it’s onto Dorze in a private vehicle, visit some of the Dorze people and their traditions in the Guge Mountains. Dorze is an ethnic group known particularly for their expert weaving and beehive-shaped bamboo houses. If the base becomes infested with termites, the entire house can be lifted and moved to another location. On the afternoon will take a boat trip in Lake Chamo, to visit the crocodile market, it is a local name for a place in Lake Chamo that the crocodiles went out of the lake and chill, there is no buying or selling, also you will see hippos and different kinds of birds. Overnight Tourist Hotel.

Day 15. DRIVE TO KONSO  

Morning after breakfast you’ll drive to Konso a UNESCO World Heritage site. A highland people, for its terraced hillsides and intricately carved totems, which locals use to decorate graves. This destination is a spectacular example of  living cultural tradition that stretches back over 400 years. One of the best types of coffee for the country is also from this village. Visit Konso village and their traditions. Visit the gorge with incredible rock formations known us New York. Overnight: Edget Hotel.

Day 16. DRIVE TO TURMI AND VISIT HAMAR TRIBE

Morning after breakfast drive to Turmi on the way stop at the biggest Keyafer weekly market where many tribes meet to exchange goods. In Turmi Visit the village of the famous Hammer tribe located close to Turmi. They are known for the fine pottery they produce as well as their remarkable hair style. The women are striking wearing beautiful colourful beaded goat skins, ornate necklaces and metal bangles around their wrist and ankles. These decorations indicate the wealth and prestige of a woman’s husband. Hamer people are also well known for the scarring of their bodies, using clay to shape their hairstyles, and the unique practice of “bull-jumping” which every young man must accomplish prior to marriage. DAY 17. KARO TRIBE And NYANGATOM

In the morning, you will have an excursion trip to Murrulle the village of Karo people who are the least in number and known for their body painting they indulge before important ceremonies then after we headed to NYANGATOM tribe The Nyangatom are known for their elaborate beaded necklaces and long skirts, which are richly decorated. Overnight Emerald Lodge.

Day 18. Visit Arbore Tribe

In the morning drive to the village of Arbore tribe. they are predominantly pastoralists, relying on livestock like cattle, sheep, and goats for their livelihood, and their wealth is measured by the number of cattle they own. The Arbore are also known for their spiritual practices, including singing and dancing to ward off negative energy, and for their distinctive culture, which includes head coverings for women and unique shell-type hats for children. On the afternoon return back to Turmi. This day you can attend a bull-jumping ceremony if available in one of the hamar villages. Overnight Emerald Lodge.

Day 19. OMORATE EXCURSION  – DRIVE TO JINKA

In the morning drive to Omorate enjoy interactions with the Geleb (Dassenech), pastoralists who celebrate a woman’s upcoming marriage with a long, drawn out ceremony where the entire tribe is invited to dress up in their finest clothing,dance and feast on slaughtered cattle. These tribes live on the bank of Omo river near to the kenya border. To reach this tribe, you need to cross a narrow but deep river in a boat made from a single tree trunk. Return back to Turmi for lunch then proceed our drive to Jinka, On the road from Jinka to Turmi, meet young men of the Banna tribe on stilts made of tree branches. If it’s Thursday visit one of the biggest markets in omo valley in Keyafer. Also Visit the villages of the Mursi Tribe. The Mursi, possibly the most well-known tribe in the area, is famous for both for their women who practice extending their lower lips with clay discs and their men who engage in stick fighting rituals called Donga. The Mursi are probably the last tribes in Africa amongst whom it is still the norm for women to wear those large pottery or wooden discs or plates. Overnight: Jinka, Nasa Hotel

Day 20. EXPLORE THE ARI TRIBE & FLY BACK TO ADDIS ABEBA

Early in the morning Before arriving to Jinka visit the village of The Ari People. The people of Ari live in the lush surroundings of the Jinka and grow coffee and fruits for trading and self-consumption. Their villages are green and surrounded by banana, mango and avocado and it is the most beautiful in the country. Afterwards, return to Jinka and transfer to Jinka Bako Airport for your return flight back to Addis Abeba.
